Munich knows him.
You don't have to learn the German construction industry on the job.
Martin Bauer is an interior design project manager in Munich, working for international clients commissioning a major renovation. The most valuable hire on a high-end fit-out is the one with no economic interest in the construction itself. TÜV-SÜD-certified construction manager. A decade inside one of Munich's leading interior design firms. An established craftsmen network. One clear loyalty: the buyer's.

How BAUMEISTERWERK came to exist.
Before BAUMEISTERWERK, I worked for many years as commercial director of a renowned Munich interior design firm. There I was responsible for the commercial project leadership and site supervision of premium and high-quality fit-out projects — for private clients in Munich and their second homes throughout Southern Germany and abroad.
In that time I saw repeatedly how clients and designers fail at the same hurdles: unclear processes, lack of transparency, missing independence, percentage fee models that reward construction volume rather than the right outcome. The clients were prepared to pay well — they only wanted to know what they were paying for.
Before that: marketing and internet startups, founding my own agency, entrepreneurial experience across several industries. An unusual mix — but one that helps in premium fit-out. Because in this world, more is required than technical capability: reliability, understanding of entrepreneurial families, discretion, taste.
I founded BAUMEISTERWERK because it became clear: clients in Munich do not need another architecture office and not another general contractor. They need someone who stands for them. On their side, without economic self-interest.
Three words, three commitments.
Detail accuracy is our standard.
In a premium fit-out, the detail decides. A joint, a seam, a junction — if that is wrong, the whole project is wrong. We check every position. Multiple times.
Neutral advice, no ties.
We are not tied to any supplier, any trade, or any general contractor. Our only interest is yours. Fixed fee instead of construction-volume commission.
More knowledge, more quality, more value.
A good project is not only completed but has made everyone involved smarter. Clients know more. Designers have found a better partner. Craftsmen have a client who speaks their language.

One word from two old terms.
Baumeister. Literally: master builder. A person who plans, leads, and executes a building — both architecturally and through craft. In the Middle Ages the person responsible for a cathedral was the Dombaumeister. In Austria and Switzerland the profession still exists today: planning, structural design, cost calculation, execution, site supervision, oversight — in one hand.
Meisterwerk. Literally: masterwork. A handcrafted, high-quality piece of work. Acknowledged by others. Timeless in its effect. Exactly what we aim for in every project — and exactly what the eight craftsmen in the book Masterworks of the Senses achieve in every piece.
Six reasons clients choose independent representation.
Holistic Management
We oversee the entire project lifecycle — not individual phases or trades. From first idea through tendering and site supervision to handover and move-in. Every aspect meticulously planned and consistently executed end-to-end.
Trusted Network
We have built a proven network of designers, master craftsmen, and specialist consultants — documented in our book "Masterworks of the Senses". For each project, we deploy precisely the specialists who fit the brief.
Clear Communication
Clear, consistent communication is at the heart of our practice. Weekly written reports, a single point of contact, proactive flagging of any change. You are informed without being overwhelmed — in English when that's your preference.
Save Our Clients Time
We know time is precious. Through efficient processes and rigorous oversight, we take on the operational layer — so you focus on what matters most. A renovation becomes a journey to enjoy, not a second job to manage.
Reduce Risk
Complex construction projects can be daunting. We mitigate risk through meticulous planning and proactive problem-solving — before a deviation becomes a problem, before a problem becomes a crisis. Calm on a construction site is not luck. It is discipline.
True Independence
Our sole economic relationship is between you and us — through the flat fee. No commissions from trades, no markups on materials, no referral payments. This independence is exactly what makes our advice worth listening to.
What clients ask about Martin Bauer.
Who is Martin Bauer?
Martin Bauer is the founder of BAUMEISTERWERK and Owner's Representative for high-end interior fit-out in Munich. TÜV-SÜD-certified construction manager with focus areas in construction and procurement law, project management, and structural defects. Before BAUMEISTERWERK, several years as commercial director of a leading Munich interior design firm; before that, marketing and internet startups, including the founding of his own agency.
What are Martin Bauer's qualifications?
TÜV-SÜD-certified Construction Manager (construction and procurement law, project management, expertise in structural defects and construction errors). Several years of operational experience as commercial director of a Munich interior design firm — responsible for the commercial project leadership of premium and high-quality interior fit-out projects in Munich, southern Germany, and abroad.
How is BAUMEISTERWERK structured?
Martin Bauer is the durable point of contact for every client project — the one person who knows every project end to end. That role only works when you know who picks up the phone. For larger projects, or to reinforce site-level operations, we collaborate with experienced interior architects and site managers from our network who take on partial functions: on-site supervision, trade-by-trade quality control, or steering specific work packages. The overall responsibility and the direct relationship with the client always remain with Martin Bauer.
Do you work in English?
Yes — fluently. Many of our clients have relocated to Munich from London, New York, Hong Kong, or Singapore. All key reports and conversations with the client can be in English. The communication with German trades runs in German — that's the language of the craftsmen — but you stay informed in your preferred language.
How many interior fit-out projects has Martin Bauer managed?
For confidentiality reasons, we don't share specific numbers. The years as commercial director of the Munich interior design firm focused on premium high-quality projects in Munich, the southern German lakes, the Alps, and the Balearic Islands. BAUMEISTERWERK continues this practice as an independent advisory.
Why is the firm called "Baumeisterwerk"?
The name combines two old words. "Baumeister" — the master builder who plans, leads, and executes structures; in Switzerland and Austria still a recognised profession. "Meisterwerk" — a hand-made, recognised, timeless work. Exactly what we aim for in every project — and exactly what the eight craftsmen in our book deliver in every piece they make.
